Zone description : A construction zone of a densely populated city on South Island, the Star Light Zone is a quiet and deserted location, cozily lit by the electronic city lights and furnished with ornamental plants. In this zone, the coziness of the city is combined with the haste and mechanized construction process, which, coupled with the soundtrack, creates an unforgettable impression. This is the area where the player can be accelerated the most in Sonic the Hedgehog (1991), as this is where the most incredible loops and jumps are located, giving Sonic ample room to use his speed.

Sonic the Hedgehog (1991)

One unfortunate day, the evil genius Dr. Ivo Robotnik decided to build his evil empire with the might of an army of robots. The Doctor goes to South Island to find six Chaos Emeralds and use them to build the ultimate weapon – the Death Egg, a space station that would become the capital of the evil empire. Once on the island, Robotnik used his army of robots to capture animals who live on the island and put them inside the robots, charging his machines with the energy of the animals.

Soon, the supersonic hero, Sonic the Hedgehog, arrives on the island and begins rescuing the animals by destroying the robots and searching for the Chaos Emeralds. The Star Light Zone is the fifth zone that Sonic visits on his adventure. It is here that Sonic finds his last chance to obtain the six Chaos Emeralds, for it will be impossible to obtain them in the following zones. Compared to the Labyrinth Zone he visited before, the Star Light Zone is very pleasant, relaxing and comfortable, even though it is also full of traps and Robotnik’s robots. Here, Sonic will have to face Robotnik himself in the villain’s next modification of Egg Mobile – the Egg Spiker, which once again is defeated by the supersonic hero.
