Zone description : The site of the ancient echidna civilization called Knuckles Clan, at the moment Mystic Ruins is an impenetrable jungle with many remnants of the ruins of an ancient civilization. It’s so easy to get lost in this vast jungle that once Dr. Eggman even managed to hide his huge mechanized base here. There are pyramids and ancient ruins everywhere, some of which are safe and even interesting, but many also filled with ancient traps and scary secrets. Right above Mystic Ruins the Angel Island soars, because, geographically, exactly near to Mystic Ruins there used to be the territory of Angel Island when it wasn’t floating. When Angel Island falls, it is often near Mystic Ruins and you can even walk to the island on feet. Coast of Mystic Ruins had a railroad built to Station Square, which is actively used by tourists and explorers of ancient ruins. In Mystic Ruins there is an entrance to a small desert. There are rumors that one of the secret Chao Gardens is hidden somewhere around here. Also, exactly in this jungle Big the Cat is living along with his friend Froggy, just as one of the Tails’ labs is placed out here.

Sonic Adventure (1998)

The much-grown Sonic faces a new threat: the mighty Chaos monster. Dr. Robotnik frees this monster from Master Emerald with the hope that Chaos will help him build his empire. Because of the destruction of the Master Emerald, Angel Island falls right next to the Mystic Ruins. Chaos can absorb Chaos Emeralds and become stronger, so Sonic teamed up with Tails and after giving Robotnik the nickname Eggman, sets out in search of Emeralds. In the process, the heroes are contacted by a mysterious red spirit, apparently trying to help in the fight against Chaos.

In the end, Chaos manages to absorb all the Chaos Emeralds and becomes Perfect Chaos, flooding all of Station Square. The red spirit that has been with the heroes all along materializes next to Sonic, turning out to be a girl who lived many years ago named Tikal. Tikal was a friend of Chaos, but she saw no other way but to re-seal Chaos into Master Emerald forever. Sonic flatly refuses this option and believes that this approach won’t solve the problem because Chaos’s hatred won’t go anywhere. By using the positive power of the Chaos Emeralds Sonic becomes Super Sonic and defeats Perfect Chaos in battle. The weakened Chaos speaks to Tikal, and she manages to extinguish the pain and rage of the distraught monster. After thanking the heroes, Tikal and Chaos return to Master Emerald and Sonic doesn’t stop on his adventure.

Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood (2008)

Sonic, Tails, Knuckles and Amy supported by GUN forces storm Eggman’s fortress and seemingly kill the evil doctor. However, Dr. Robotnik keeps himself alive thanks to one of the medical robots and escapes for almost half of the year. After this time, the world was invaded by mysterious warriors, immediately nicknamed Marauders. They turned on Eggman’s old robots and used them for their own purposes, causing the heroes, led by Sonic, to go after Eggman himself.

The Doctor convinced the heroes that he had given up on villainy and offered to help fight the Marauders. It turns out that the Marauders are an ancient, high-tech echidna clan exiled to another world called Nocturnus. After stealing all the Chaos Emeralds, Nocturnus forced Angel Island to fly away from the Mystic Ruins and positioned it over Metropolis, where their base was located. After gathering their fleet, the villains opened a portal to their world and escaped with the Master Emerald and the Chaos Emeralds. The heroes pursue the Marauders into their own world and eventually recover the Master Emerald and the Chaos Emeralds. However, when they return home, they learn that the time they spent in Nocturnus dimension was much slower than in their home world, and during their absence, Dr. Eggman has built a vast robot empire and declared a new war on them.
