Zone description : One of the many locations on South Island, the Marble Zone is an ancient ruin in a mountainous area. A multitude of pillars, purple bricks and deep catacombs are all that remains of the former civilization. This place is very dangerous because it is almost entirely filled with lava. In the collapsed caves and on the dark surface, the area is lit by torches and rivers of lava, but the Marble Zone is still dark, which Dr. Robotnik’s bat-like robots take advantage of as they try to hide in shadows.

Sonic the Hedgehog (1991)

One unfortunate day, the evil genius Dr. Ivo Robotnik decided to build his evil empire with the might of an army of robots. The Doctor goes to South Island to find six Chaos Emeralds and use them to build the ultimate weapon – the Death Egg, a space station that would become the capital of the evil empire. Once on the island, Robotnik used his army of robots to capture animals who live on the island and put them inside the robots, charging his machines with the energy of the animals.

Soon, the supersonic hero, Sonic the Hedgehog, arrives on the island and begins rescuing the animals by destroying the robots and searching for the Chaos Emeralds. The second location Sonic visits on his adventure is the Marble Zone. After wading through the lava-flooded catacombs of the abandoned ruins and across the dark mountain surface above them, Sonic faces off against Dr. Robotnik’s Egg Scorcher, a modification of the Egg Mobile and defeats the villain.
