Rouge the Bat

Sonic Adventure 2 (2001)
Rouge is hired as the president’s personal agent and is tasked with finding information about a certain Project Shadow to create the Ultimate Life Form, which has recently been stolen from a secret GUN base. Rouge received information that Dr. Eggman was responsible for the attack on the GUN base so she decided to infiltrate Eggman’s base. Along the way, she stumbled upon the Master Emerald altar guarded by Knuckles the Echidna and couldn’t resist trying to steal it. In the process, she began to argue with Knuckles, which distracted them both and allowed Eggman to suddenly appear to grab the Emerald. Eggman muttered that the Master Emerald had been found with the Emerald detector, and even though the Doctor didn’t want it, he would find a use for the jewel. Knuckles, to prevent the theft of the Master Emerald, smashes it to reassemble it later. Rouge and Knuckles begin a race to collect the pieces of the Master Emerald, but soon Rouge is forced to abandon the quest and return to her mission. After infiltrating Eggman’s base and then teleporting to the abandoned Space Colony Ark, Rouge encounters both Eggman and the Ultimate Life Form itself, an anthropomorphic hedgehog named Shadow.

Rouge offers Eggman and Shadow her help in finding the Chaos Emeralds, which were needed to power a weapon capable of destroying the planet – the Eclipse Cannon. In return, Eggman is to give Rouge the Emerald detector, which he chatted about at the Master Emerald’s altar. Eggman agreed to the deal and the three of them, Rouge, Eggman, and Shadow, began to seize the Emeralds. Of course, this was only a cover for Rouge, and in the process she used the Colony Ark database to find information about Project Shadow. They already possessed three Emeralds (another two were held by Eggman and Shadow). Using her sources of information, Rouge reports that 3 more Chaos Emeralds are protected by GUN on Prison Island. While Eggman distracts the military, Rouge infiltrates the vault and steals the Emeralds, while Shadow installs bombs on the island that will blow it all up. Soon, Rouge calls Shadow on communicator and informs him that she is trapped in the Emerald vault and will die when the bomb explodes. Much to her surprise, Shadow comes to her rescue and saves her by using Chaos Control – ability to teleport using Chaos Emeralds. Rouge begins to suspect that Shadow is more than he’s letting on. 

After successfully collecting six Chaos Emeralds, Rouge discovered that an Ultimate Life Form named Shadow is a giant lizard, not an anthropomorphic hedgehog. After getting all the information she needs, Rouge betrays Eggman and returns to search for the Master Emerald’s shards. In the process, she encounters Knuckles again, this time in combat. During the fight, Rouge falls off a narrow bridge and nearly falls into the lava, but Knuckles catches her at the last second. Rouge tries to put the event down as a joke, but ends up giving the splinters she collected to Knuckles. Afterwards, Rouge seeks the Ark command room to steal the six collected Chaos Emeralds, but is confronted by Shadow. Shadow prevents her from stealing the Emeralds, but Rouge accuses him of not being an Ultimate Life Form. Shadow, surprised by this himself, claims that even if his memories are faked, they are all he has. 

Eventually, Eggman manages to insert all the Emeralds into the Eclipse Cannon, but instead of firing, the Colony begins to plummet rapidly to Earth. It was Shadow’s plan to use Eggman to collect the Emeralds and bring Colony down to Earth, thereby avenging humanity for the death of his close friend. Rouge, Eggman, Sonic the Hedgehog, Miles “Tails” Prower and Knuckles try to stop Colony from falling and even Shadow, who has recovered his true memories, eventually joins the heroes. In the end, the heroes manage to stop the fall of the Colony, but Shadow heroically dies in the process. Rouge, contemplating her future, tells Knuckles that she’s thinking about something far more important than jewels.

Sonic Heroes (2003)
Rouge infiltrates Eggman’s base to find treasure, but instead finds a capsule with Shadow inside. By chance, Rouge frees Shadow and immediately, Shadow is attacked by Eggman’s robot, whose saying “Must destroy all Eggman’s robots!”. Rouge stops the fight and listens to both of them. Shadow has amnesia and remembers absolutely nothing, while the robot, E-123 Omega, has been locked in this base to guard Shadow. Insulted by this attitude, Omega decides to take revenge on Eggman and destroy all of his robots. The three band together as Team Dark and seek out Eggman, each for their own reasons. In the end, Rouge doesn’t find the treasure she’s searching for, but she does find more pods with Shadow inside. Rouge suspects that Shadow is actually a robot created by Eggman and Omega decides to find the original.

Shadow the Hedgehog (2005)
Rouge becomes a member of GUN and along with an international army, tries to stop the invasion on Earth by the alien race Black Arms.

Sonic Battle (2003)
Rouge discovers the existence of the perfect weapon, the Gizoid. She infiltrates Eggman’s base, where, according to her information, the robot should be, and meets Shadow, who came there after hearing a strange call. It turns out that the Gizoid is a powerful fighting machine that has destroyed its own civilization. The Gizoid was able to copy the fighting abilities of his opponents and absorb Chaos Emeralds, becoming stronger. After absorbing all 7 Chaos Emeralds, the Gizoid would destroy the world. After getting the information they needed, Rouge and Shadow triggered an alarm at the base and were attacked by security robots. Despite the relatively easy victory, Shadow was hurt in the battle and a seemingly minor wound has very serious consequences and Shadow loses consciousness. Rouge takes the hedgehog to her club and he is delirious for weeks. Rouge wishes to train the Gizoid for theft, so she creates a plan on how to steal the robot from Sonic, who accidentally found it on the beach and activated the system of creating a link. Rouge tricks Sonic into ordering Emerl (such name Sonic gave to the Gizoid) to listen to all of Rouge’s orders and takes advantage of this to steal the robot. She begins to train him as the ultimate thief, but he resists and seems very unhappy. Several times, Amy Rose, who is very attached to the robot, tries to get Emerl back, but each time without success. Eventually, faced with Sonic, Tails, Knuckles and Amy at the same time, Rouge gives up and voluntarily returns Emerl. In the process, Rouge and Amy become close rivals and Rouge becomes attached to Emerl, becoming something of a second mother to him. Finally waking up from his fever and fully recovering from his wound, Shadow finds out that the Gizoid has already received 6 Chaos Emeralds, so Shadow takes his last Emerald and hurries to destroy the robot. Rouge, offended by this attitude, reminds him that she saved the hedgehog’s life. Shadow, apparently touched by this, calls Rouge his ally. 

In the process of his adventures Emerl forms his own personality and he builds a very friendly relationship with Rouge, Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Amy, Cream the Rabbit and even Shadow, but it also turns out that when Emerl absorbs all the Chaos Emeralds, he will lose control and destroy the whole world. Shadow, using a program left by Dr. Gerald Robotnik, disables the system and Emerl safely absorbs the seventh Chaos Emerald. Soon, however, due to the severe emotional turmoil caused by Eggman’s deception, Emerl loses control and triggers the system to destroy the world. Sonic has to fight Emerl and inflict severe damage on the robot. Emerl, defeated, says goodbye to Sonic and explodes. It turns out that Dr. Gerald Robotnik has embedded a program in Emerl that will explode him if he tries to destroy the planet. The heroes grieve for Emerl and say goodbye to him. They still believe that Emerl lives in the shards of the Chaos Emeralds, and when all the wars and conflicts in the world are over, Emerl will return to his friends.

In between of the games…
After the events of Shadow the Hedgehog (2005), Shadow and Omega, following Rouge, also joined GUN and Team Dark more than once helped greatly in saving humanity. As a team, Rouge, Shadow and Omega create a close friendship bond to the point when they’re ready to sacrifice themselves for the sake of each other. 

Sonic Rivals 2 (2007)
Rouge receives an assignment from an unknown customer to search for the seven Chaos Emeralds. In the process of her searches, she meets Knuckles, who lost the Master Emerald once again. Rouge asks Knuckles for help in this task and using the Eggman Emerald Detector, they set out on a search for the Master Emerald as well as the Chaos Emeralds. In the process, they had to fight Eggman and the mighty Ifrit, which only strengthened Knuckles and Rouge’s friendship. In the end, it turned out that Eggman had been Rouge’s customer all along and she refused to carry out the mission. The Matser Emerald, on the other hand, was inside the Emerald Detector the duo was using all this time. 

Sonic Free Riders (2010)
Rouge decides to win a world Race Grand Prix money prize and for that asks Shadow for help, but to join it they needed a third member, so they took a random robot of Eggmans, which was E-10000B. After winning a Grand Prix and waiting for a prize, E-10000B suddenly exploded and from its shell Metal Sonic appeared. All this time while the races Metal Sonic was collecting the racers data to defeat Sonic in a race, but in the end, even with all that data, Metal Sonic failed in a race with Sonic. 

Sonic Forces (2017)
While destroying another Eggman’s base by GUN’s order, Shadow defeats another mercenary squad. The leader of the Jackal Squad cannot take defeat and decides to use Eggman’s help with his invention – Phantom Ruby to become stronger. After learning how to use the Phantom Ruby’s power, the previous mercenary leader renames himself Infinite and decides to help Eggman to conquer the world. Team Dark, while attacking Eggman by GUN’s order another time, encounters Infinite. Using the Phantom Ruby’s power, Infinite shuts down Omega and almost defeats Shadow. After that, Rouge and Shadow joined The Resistance and together played a big part in defeating Eggman and Infinite, in the process repairing Omega.
