Infinite [Sonic Forces]
As an ultimate mercenary, while still working in his profession, the leader of the Jackal Squad was rational, fierce, brutal and ambitious, driven only by his earnings and not caring about anything but his own well-being. During the attack on Eggman’s base, the Jackal Squad leader was struck by the Phantom Ruby and what was unveiled was his deepest desire for chaos and anarchy in the world. The mercenary hated peace and stagnation and wished to give the world movement through struggle. Eggman liked the mercenary’s ideas and hired the Jackal Squad to defend his own base.
However, even all of Eggman’s robots working together with the Jackal Squad could not stop GUN agent Shadow the Hedgehog, who managed to single-handedly defeat everyone who stood in his way, including the entire mercenary squad. Even Jackal Squad leader himself was smashed to smithereens by Shadow, being called worthless. Broken by his own weakness, the mercenary leader puts a mask on his face, wishing to forget who he was before, and unites with the power of Phantom Ruby to become his new self, taking the name Infinite.
The new Infinite has no pity, is utterly uncompromising and desires only chaos. He is incredibly strong and unforgiving of mistakes and it is thanks to his power that Eggman Empire takes over 99% of the world. However, the combined forces of Resistance, particularly Sonic the Hedgehog, Classic Sonic and Avatar defeat Infinite and Eggman, restoring peace and order.

Forces Infinite [Canon]
Swordsmanship, Virtual reality manipulation, Flight.
Phantom Ruby has several weaknesses at once. In particular, the Phantom Ruby absorbs a huge amount of energy and must be charged by the energy source; if the energy source is destroyed, the Phantom Ruby becomes significantly weaker. A second serious weakness of the Ruby is the Phantom Ruby prototypes, which can neutralize illusions created by the final version.
Also, Infinite himself has a number of weaknesses. For example, he often spares opponents, enjoying their weakness and fear, which at times, harms the villain himself. Infinite is also clearly mentally unstable, breaking down completely from simple insults or defeat, which are supposed to be customary for a mercenary.
Sonic Forces (2017)
Previously, whoever became Infinite was known as the ultimate mercenary and was the commander of a mercenary troop called the Jackal Squad. One day, the squad attacked one of Dr. Ivo Robotnik aka Eggman’s bases and in the heat of the battle, the squad leader came into contact with one of Eggman’s experimental artifacts, the Phantom Ruby. Together, the mercenary leader and the Doctor entered Ruby’s illusion, showing the world in flames. The Jackal Squad leader hated world stagnation and believed that the best cure for boredom was chaos and destruction. Dr. Eggman liked the mercenary’s vision of the world and hired the Jackal Squad to guard his base.
After some time in Sonic Forces: Episode Shadow, the GUN agent Shadow the Hedgehog attacks Eggman’s base, destroying all the robots in his path as well as all the members of the Jackal Squad. The squad leader, the ultimate mercenary, attempts to ambush Shadow, but is utterly destroyed by the hedgehog. Shadow taunts the loser, calls him “worthless” and demands never to show his pathetic face around Shadow ever again. After that, Shadow destroys the base, even though Eggman with the Phantom Ruby developments manage to escape. The leader of the mercenaries, left without his squad, is still unable to forget his defeat and blatantly breaks out. He hated his own face and put on a mask, gave himself a new name – Infinite and became the object of Eggman’s experiments, learning to control the Phantom Ruby’s incredible power to create Virtual Reality.
Soon Infinite is faced with GUN again, this time not only with Shadow but also with E-123 Omega. Using his newfound powers, Infinite shuts Omega down and traps Shadow in a world of illusions from which hedgehog, however, still manages to escape, but even after surviving the fight Shadow has to flee the battlefield.
Using the immeasurable power of Phantom Ruby, Infinite soon defeats Sonic the Hedgehog in battle and the hero ends up being captured by Eggman. With Sonic’s defeat, there is no one left to oppose Eggman and Infinite. Within six months they have taken over 99% of the world. Only faint echoes of The Resistance (led by Knuckles the Echidna) fought the invaders, though unsuccessfully.
Soon, The Resistance members discover that Sonic is held on the Death Egg and prepare a rescue operation. The Resistance manages to rescue Sonic from captivity and he joins them. Working together, Sonic and Rookie (one of the newest members of Resistance also known as Avatar) destroy Eggman’s factory in the desert and work well together. Soon, Miles “Tails” Prower joins the Resistance as well, along with Classic Sonic, who has come from another dimension to help fight the villains.
In an attempt to storm Metropolis City, Sonic encounters Infinite in combat, but the villain uses the power of the Phantom Ruby to open a portal to a Null Space, which pulls Sonic in. The Rookie selflessly rushes to save the hedgehog, but is pulled into Null Space with Sonic. Using Double Boost, the heroes manage to escape and together with the Resistance, they push Eggman and Infinite to their final base. Working together, Sonic and Rookie defeat Infinite and destroy Eggman’s base, after defeating Eggman again after another desperate attempt to oppose the heroes. What happened to Infinite after his defeat is unknown.
