Black Doom

Before the events of the games…
The ancient race of Black Arms, led by Black Doom, inhabited the Black Comet for ages, circling the galaxy. The Black Arms fed on the energy of living beings and also possessed the special ability Chaos Control, allowing them to use the Chaos energy to manipulate time and space. Every fifty years the Black Comet flew over the Earth and for many years Black Doom planned an attack on the Earth in order to consume all of humanity. However, the Black Comet could not pass through Earth’s atmosphere, but the atmosphere could be bypassed using a fairly powerful teleportation. To create a portal of such power, it was necessary to have a huge source of Chaos power, which Black Doom didn’t have.

However, one day, when the Black Comet flew over the Earth, Black Doom was contacted by a human scientist, Professor Gerald Robotnik. Gerald was engaged in a research project to create the Ultimate Life Form on the Space Colony Ark, outside the Earth’s atmosphere. Gerald offered Black Doom a deal – Black Doom would provide his biological sample to create the Ultimate Life Form. In return,  50 years later, the Ultimate Life Form would give Black Doom 7 Chaos Emeralds, which energy would be enough to teleport the Black Comet. Black Doom agreed to the deal and so, the Ultimate Life Form named Shadow the Hedgehog was born. Black Arms, on the other hand, awaited 50 years of wandering through space, waiting for the promised time.

Fifty years later, the Black Arms attacked Earth. Black Arms troops attacked six large cities around the world, GUN troops and the robots of Gerald Robotnik’s grandson Dr. Ivo Robotnik aka Eggman faced off against Black Arms in a brutal battle. Sonic the Hedgehog and many heroes stood up to defend the planet, but it was all just a distraction. While attacking every significant point on the planet, Black Doom contacted Shadow. Unfortunately (or fortunately) for Black Doom, Shadow had amnesia and did not remember his promise, but decided that collecting the seven Chaos Emeralds would provide answers to what happened in his past. Black Doom decided to take advantage of this and promised that he would reveal the secret of Shadow’s past if he would give him the Emeralds.

So, after going through many battles and hardships, Shadow found all the Chaos Emeralds and gave them to Black Doom. Black Doom kept his promise and told about Shadow’s past, thereby plunging the hedgehog into despair. Using the Chaos Emeralds, Black Doom teleported the Black Comet to Earth and began its absorption. Sonic and the other heroes tried to stop Black Doom, but were unable to counteract the paralyzing gas.

However, Shadow then decided that he would say goodbye to his cursed past and took advantage of Black Arms’ blood to surpass the paralysis. Then, Black Doom used the blood bond to paralyze Shadow again, but suddenly, screens with Professor Gerald and his granddaughter Maria Robotnik began popping up all over the Black Comet. On these screens, Gerald Robotnik was giving Shadow a message explaining that there is a special weapon on Space Colony Ark, the Eclipse Cannon, capable of destroying the Black Comet. Gerald and Maria said they believed in Shadow. Inspired by their speech, Shadow finds the strength to transcend paralysis again and attacks Black Doom, taking away the Emeralds. Using their power, Shadow turns into Super Shadow, while Black Doom takes his final form, Devil Doom. In his final battle, Super Shadow defeats Devil Doom and uses the Eclipse Cannon to blow up the Black Comet. The fate of the defeated Black Doom is unknown, but he is most probably dead.
