My Sweet Passion [Sonic Adventure]
Amy is a kind hedgehog with a heart of gold. She is always willing to help anyone around her, regardless if she’s close with the individual or not.
Her bubbly personality creates an enchanting aura of bliss for those around her. However, Amy Rose is not always happy go lucky as she can become feisty and fiery when encountering situations that endanger those who she wishes to protect, especially against evil individuals such as Eggman and his robots.
When Amy is aggravated, she attacks individuals through the use of her Piko Piko Hammer, which she swings to smash everything she aims at. Those around her interpret her to be a damsel in distress, though despite her cutesy persona; Amy Rose is one you can rely on to get the job done.
Amy Rose also is deeply infatuated with Sonic as most of her actions link with trying to please or chase him, all for the purpose to coerce him to marry her. But Sonic cannot share her feelings and always runs away, but even so – Amy never give up if she wants something, she will do anything to get it.
It’s not just in love that this girl shows her tenacity, because it’s probably Amy who has one of the strongest levels of willpower of all Sonic’s characters. If she has made up her mind about something, it’s incredibly difficult to change her mind, and if she protects those she cares about, she’s completely unstoppable. Even Sonic was amazed at how fast Amy was growing stronger.

She is an energetic and cheerful mood-maker, with a strong will to win and huge amount of energy. When the time comes, she pulls out her beloved Piko Piko Hammer out of nowhere and plays an active role as if she were a man.
Sonic’s single-mindedness and enthusiasm were enough to make her wince.

Amy’s first appearance was in Sonic CD (1993). The evil Dr. Ivo Robotnik following a plan to build his own empire chains up the Little Planet, a mysterious formation inhabited mostly by plants and over which time has no power. Using the power of Time Stones, Dr. Robotnik returns to the past of the Little Planet and takes it over. Soon after, a great hero and the main enemy of Dr. Robotnik, who has the ability to accelerate to incredible speeds, Sonic the Hedgehog arrives at the Little Planet to stop the villain. He is pursued by Amy, who’s a big Sonic fan. Once on the Little Planet, Amy finds Sonic, but he shows no interest in her, until she is kidnapped by Robotnik’s powerful new robot, Metal Sonic. Sonic chases his metal replica, while also collecting Time Stones and destroying the robot-producing machines of the past. After winning the race against Metal Sonic, Sonic rescues Amy from captivity and after defeating Dr. Robotnik they leave the mysterious place together, earning the gratitude of the inhabitants of the rescued world.
In Sonic Adventure (1998), the already considerably grown-up Amy lives in Station Square, missing her hero Sonic and wishing that the days of adventure would return. Suddenly, one day while Amy was shopping for groceries, the Egg Carrier, Dr. Robotnik’s giant flying ship, flies over the town. Right on top of Amy’s head, a small bird falls out of the ship. At first Amy is angry at the tactlessness of the encounter, but soon she notices that they, along with the bird, are being chased by Robotnik’s scary robot. Amy and the birdie successfully hid and went looking for Sonic to ask him for help. Surprisingly, right in Station Square, Amy finds Sonic, but unable to control her feelings, scares Sonic and he escapes. When she catches up with him, she practically forces him to go to Twinkle Park, where they accidentally (or better to say, because of Amy’s haste) split up. As a consequence, Robotnik’s robot kidnaps Amy and the bird. Although Sonic pursues the kidnapper, the robot still manages to return to the Egg Carrier, where Amy and the birdie are placed in a cage. In the cage, another Robotnik’s robot comes to them and demands that Amy give him the bird. Amy sharply refuses and accuses the robot of having no feelings. Instead of persistence, the robot is curious, asking Amy why she doesn’t want to give him the bird. To this, Amy asks to be let out of the cage. The robot mulls over the request for a while, when the bird bursts right out of the cage and flies straight for the robot. Amy is frightened, but the robot suddenly, instead of taking the bird, releases the captives and tells them to run away. Amy thanks the robot for saving her and offers to become friends. On the deck of the ship, Amy and the birdie are intercepted by Robotnik, who immediately takes the bird from Amy’s hands. He pulls out the Chaos Emerald from the medallion around the birdie’s neck (which bird has been wearing the whole time), to Amy’s surprise. After that, Robotnik takes the bird back, as he’s no longer interested in it. Suddenly, Sonic and his best friend Miles “Tails” Prower show up on the deck to rescue Amy. Robotnik summons E-102 Gamma to deal with the heroes and suddenly for Amy, Gamma turns out to be the robot that saved her from captivity. Robotnik flies away with Emerald, while Sonic and Tails fight Gamma. Amy stops the fight and asks Sonic and Tails not to destroy the robot. Heroes don’t understand what’s going on, but they’re trusting Amy, so they don’t attack. Amy convinces the robot to stop fighting as well, appealing to the fact that they are friends. After listening to her, Gamma also lowers his weapon. Suddenly, the ship begins to lose altitude. Sonic goes in pursuit of Robotnik, and Tails uses his ability to fly, flying away with Amy, saying goodbye to Gamma.
Already on the ground, Tails and Amy part ways and, left alone with the birdie, Amy takes a closer look at medallion, which contained the Chaos Emerald. The medallion contained a photo of the birdie’s family, and Amy promises to help find them. At first Amy and birdie infiltrate Robotnik’s base, where they are once again pursued by the robot that previously kidnapped Amy. In spite of the pursuit, Amy manages to escape, but the bird’s family is not at Robotnik’s base. Amy and the birdie decide to visit the fallen Egg Carrier, where they finally find the bird’s family. Suddenly, however, the same robot kidnapper appears and attacks the bird so that it falls to the ground without showing any signs. Amy, furious, grabs her Piko Piko Hammer and destroys the annoying robot. After the battle, Amy rushes to the birdie, and to her great relief, it turns out to be all right. The bird and her family say goodbye to Amy and fly away, while Amy swears that she will catch up with Sonic and become even stronger than he, but then it will be too late for him.
The story continues in Sonic Adventure 2 (2001). Sonic is imprisoned after being accused of attacking the military and robbery. Amy, totally disbelieving her hero’s guilt, makes her way to Prison Island, where Sonic is being held. Once on the island, she finds Sonic and embraces him, happy to have found her beloved. After a few moments, however, she realizes that the hedgehog she hugged was not Sonic at all, but a certain black hedgehog of a grim and menacing appearance. Worse, he was accompanied by Dr. Robotnik (who took the nickname “Dr. Eggman”). Eggman attacks Amy, but luckily for her, Tails arrives in his Tornado plane and saves Amy from trouble. While Tails breaks through the military’s forces, Amy finds Sonic’s cage and releases him. It turns out that Sonic is already familiar with the black one, named Shadow the Hedgehog and at the mere mention of him, he wants to find the impostor, which Amy helps Sonic with by telling him about her encounter with Shadow. Sonic immediately went in pursuit, but soon returned and in a hurry reported that the whole island was about to explode. Amy, Sonic and Tails escape the island on the Tornado at the last moment.
Shortly after the explosion, Dr. Eggman announces that he is capable of destroying the entire planet unless its inhabitants surrender to the mercy of the Eggman Empire within 24 hours. To demonstrate his serious intentions, Eggman uses an energy beam to destroy half the moon. The heroes assume that Eggman is using the power of the Chaos Emeralds, so using the Emerald possessed by Tails, they learn that the other 6 Emeralds are in space. By sneaking into the President’s limousine, who’s talking to Eggman at this moment, Sonic and Tails manage to find out that the villain is on the space colony Ark. Together, Amy Sonic, Tails and Knuckles the Echidna steal a rocket from the Doctor and head for the colony. There, Tails gives Sonic a fake Chaos Emerald capable of detonating Eggman’s weapon from within, causing a critical error, but Sonic fails to execute the plan as Amy is captured. While rushing to the rescue, Sonic encounters Eggman, who demands the Emerald in exchange for Amy’s life. Sonic tries to trick the doctor by giving him the fake Emerald, but due to a mistake by Tails, the plan fails and Sonic is dropped into outer space. In desperation, Amy sobs and Tails faces Robotnik in a deadly battle. Soon, however, Tails is contacted via communicator by Sonic, who turns out to be alive. He asks Tails and Amy to look out the window of the colony, which they do. Losing too much time, Sonic destroyed Eggman’s weapon from the outside instead of the original plan, preventing the shot. However, despite his best efforts, Eggman still manages to insert the last Chaos Emerald, which he took while Tails were distracted with Sonic’s call, into the weapon. Suddenly, screens are activated showing the execution of Dr. Gerald Robotnik, lead scientiest of space colony Ark from 50 years ago. It turns out that this was all Gerald’s plan to avenge his murdered by the government daughter Maria, and Shadow only carried out the plan. Using the energy of the Chaos Emeralds, the Ark colony would rush toward Earth at incredible speed, after which it would destroy all life on the planet. Heroes and villains unite to stop the colony from falling, but an Ultimate Life Form prototype, the Biolizard, stands in their way.
While heroes and villains fight to save the planet, Shadow stares silently out the colony window, pondering. He is spotted by Amy, who has no place in the rescue operation. Amy decides that she too must help in some way, so she talks to Shadow. She asks him to help, but he refuses, because everything is going according to his plan. Amy says that even though people may seem evil and selfish, they always find reasons to be happy, they fight to the end and never give up on their wishes. Amy asks to give people a chance. The girl’s words awaken something in Shadow and he, with tears in his eyes, suddenly runs to the heroes’ aid, promising Amy to save humanity. Shadow is taking the battle with Biolizard himself. Taking the form of Super Sonic and Super Shadow, the hedgehogs defeat the monster, but Shadow heroically dies in battle. All the heroes bid farewell to Shadow and word of his sacrifice spreads throughout the planet he saved.
In Sonic Advance (2001) and Sonic Advance 2 (2002) you can see the progression of Amy’s abilities – she becomes faster, stronger, learns new moves and becomes a complete fighter, almost equal to Sonic.
In Sonic Heroes (2003), Big the Cat, a huge and somewhat silly cat, loses his best friend, a frog named Froggy. At the same time, Cream the Rabbit, a very polite, little naive and young girl along with her pet Chao named Cheese also lose their friend Chao named Chocola. Amy learns from the newspaper that both Froggy and Chocola have been kidnapped by Sonic, so Amy, wanting to meet her hero again, joins up with Cream and Big in Team Rose and together the three of them rush to find Sonic. Soon, after many adventures and battles with Eggman’s robots, Team Rose finds Froggy and Chocola, who, as it turns out, were kidnapped not by Sonic, but by his metal replica – Neo Metal Sonic. The robot used Chocola and Froggy to copy the DNA of the ancient god of destruction Chaos. Also, by copying the DNA of Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, and the returned from the dead Shadow, Metal Sonic becomes the Metal Overlord, a completely invincible and unbeatable monster. Team Rose, Team Dark and Team Chaotix distract the Metal Overlord while Team Sonic are using the Chaos Emeralds to take their Super forms. With the power of the Emeralds, the heroes manage to defeat the monster and things return to normal.
In Sonic Battle (2003), Sonic, while walking on Emerald Beach, suddenly discovers a robot. Trying to figure out what it is, Sonic picks up the robot when it demands a demonstration of power. Without thinking long, Sonic shows a couple of his techniques to the robot and it’s declares an established “link”. Not realizing anything, Sonic takes the robot to the Tails lab, but on the way he meets Rouge the Bat, a thief with a strange interest in the robot, as well as Shadow, who attacks Sonic. Sonic defeats Shadow and black hedgehog leaves, telling Sonic to keep an eye on the robot. Tails analyzes the robot and discovers that it is a very powerful machine, capable of absorbing Chaos Emeralds thus becoming stronger, as well as copying the fighting techniques of other fighters. Sonic finds this very cool and decides to upgrade the robot to the max. Sonic gives the robot the name Emerl, and they begin their adventure together. At this time, Amy, having built an almost sisterly relationship with Cream, lives with the rabbit girl in the shared apartment in Emerald Town. When she met Emerl, Amy was so happy, as she began to imagine that she and Sonic were Emerl’s parents. She treated Emerl as his own mother, nurturing and protecting him. Soon, Rouge arrives at Sonic and Emerl training place and cunningly forces Sonic to give Emerl a command to listen to Rouge’s orders. Using this trick, Rouge kidnaps Emerl to raise him as the ultimate thief. Amy struggles to save Emerl, chasing Rouge all over the city and engaging in numerous confrontations with thief, eventually becoming so exhausted that Amy simply passes out. In the end, Rouge gives up and gives Sonic the robot back. Amy, however, begins to train madly, driving Cream to near-insanity and herself to near exhaustion. In the process, however, she becomes many times stronger, as Sonic himself admits. In the process, Amy and Emerl build such a close relationship that they practically become mother and child.
In the process of his adventuring, Emerl’s forms his own personality and he builds a very friendly relationship with Sonic, Tails, Rouge, Knuckles, Cream and even Shadow, but it also turns out that when Emerl absorbs all the Chaos Emeralds, he will get out of control and destroy the whole world. Shadow, using a program left by Dr. Gerald Robotnik, disables the system and Emerl safely absorbs the seventh Chaos Emerald. Soon, however, due to the severe emotional turmoil caused by Eggman’s deception, Emerl goes out of control and triggers the system to destroy the world. Sonic has to fight Emerl and inflict severe damage on the robot. Emerl, defeated, says goodbye to Sonic and explodes. it turns out that Dr. Gerald Robotnik has embedded a program in Emerl that will explode him if he tries to destroy the planet. The heroes grieve for Emerl and say goodbye to him. They still believe that Emerl lives in the shards of the Chaos Emeralds, and when all the wars and conflicts in the world are over, Emerl will return to his friends.
In Sonic Advance 3 (2004) Eggman creates new robot named Gemerl. Gemerl was created based on a Gizoid, so he’s also able to copy the fighting abilities of other fighters. Unlike his original, Gemerl was loyal to his creator and stood with him against Sonic, Amy, Cream and other heroes. In the final battle, after losing against the heroes, Eggman and Gemerl began to retreat, but suddenly Gemerl disobeyed the doctor, attacked Sonic, grabbed 7 Chaos Emeralds and took his final form, Ultimate G-merl, wreaking havoc everywhere. Sonic uses the power of the Chaos Emeralds to obtain his Super form and joins forces with Eggman, who wishes to stop the machine that betrayed him, defeating the Ultimate G-merl. After his defeat, Gemerl is almost destroyed and falls to the ground, where he is found by Cream. She carries the broken robot to Tails. Fox fixes the robot and changes it, making the robot friendlier. The upgraded Gemerl settles into the house with Cream and her mom Vanilla the Rabbit and lives with them in peace to this day.
In Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood (2008) Sonic, Tails, Knuckles and Amy supported by GUN forces storm Eggman’s fortress and seemingly kill the evil doctor. After defeating the Doctor, Sonic disappears for almost half a year. After this time, the world was invaded by mysterious warriors, immediately nicknamed Marauders. They stole Chaos Emeralds, defeated the military in battle and also kidnapped Knuckles, so Tails was forced to call Sonic for help. The first person Sonic met upon his return was Amy. She was so offended by Sonic’s attitude of leaving without saying a word that she immediately said she had a boyfriend named Dexter. It soon becomes obvious that no Dexter exists and that by his figure Amy was only trying to force Sonic to treat her better. Over the course of the story, the player’s choice of Sonic’s dialogue may build a good relationship with Amy and at the end even accept the fact that Sonic has feelings for Amy, but eventually they decide that they cannot be in a relationship while the world is under the constant threat of Maraders and Eggman. In the event that Sonic is rude to Amy and treats her badly, nothing will change and their relationship will remain strained. Also, in the course of the story, Amy and Rouge’s rivalry becomes even more detailed – the girls are constantly throwing barbs at each other and do not bend to outright insults in each other’s direction.
In Sonic Unleashed (2008) while having another Sonic vs. Eggman battle, Sonic uses a Super Sonic form and destroys the doctor’s fleet. However, Eggman uses a pre-made trap and catches Super Sonic. Using the energy of the 7 Chaos Emeralds, Eggman shoots an energy beam into the Earth, thereby awakening the ancient Dark Gaia monster and splitting the Earth into 7 pieces (as well as stripping the Emeralds of all energy). In addition, as a consequence of the cataclysm, at night people became possessed by the spirits of Dark Gaia and went mad. However, on Sonic, it manifested in him to become a Werehog – a monster with long arms. Soon, Sonic, in his new guise, meets Amy and she, not thinking long, embraces Werehog. After a few moments, Amy, thinking she was mistaken, pushes Sonic away and apologizing. However, she is still surprised because she was sure it was Sonic, so she asks Professor Pickle, who is helping Sonic save the world, about Sonic’s condition and he tells her everything. Amy, understanding the situation, supports Sonic and cheers him on until the end of the journey.
In Sonic Free Riders (2010) Amy joins with Cream and the leader of the detective agency Chaotix named Vector the Crocodile in Team Rose in order to win the World Grand Prix and possibly make some money. Team Rose won, but ended up with no money.
In Sonic Forces (2017), a powerful new villain named Infinite attacks Sonic. With the help of Metal Sonic, Chaos, Shadow, and Zavok (leader of the Zeti), Infinite manages to defeat Sonic and the hedgehog finds himself captured by Eggman. Together, Eggman and Infinite take over 99% of the world with little or no resistance. Only faint echoes of The Resistance, led by Knuckles, fought the invaders, though unsuccessfully. Amy also was a part of The Resistance. One of the victims of Eggman’s attack finds the courage to join the Resistance and immediately, nicknamed “Rookie”, is assigned to help free Sonic, who happens to have been held captive on Death Egg the entire time. In the end, the Resistance manages to rescue Sonic from captivity and he joins the Resistance. Working together, Sonic and Rookie destroy Eggman’s factory in the desert and work well together. Soon, Tails joins the Resistance as well, along with Classic Sonic, who has come from another dimension to help fight the villains. Amy’s loosing her head from the perspective to have two Sonics at once. Working together, Sonic and Rookie defeat Infinite and destroy Eggman’s base, but the evil doctor still hasn’t given up. He implanted the Phantom Ruby into the Death Egg Robot and thereby amplifying Ruby’s abilities many times over. With great difficulty, however, Rookie, Sonic and Classic Sonic work together to defeat Eggman in battle, thus saving the world. Classic Sonic returns to his dimension and the members of The Resistance including Amy begin to think about how to rebuild the world.
In Team Sonic Racing (2019) Amy along with her Team Rose friends – Big and Chao (instead of Cream) joins the Dodon Pa races, where they worked together to win the race.
